Unlike other hard surfaces in urban cities, the vertical and horizontal sides of the outer surface of the building play a major role in rising temperatures in urban dwellings across the globe. Negligible or no thought goes in designing the building surface to reduce the temperature and benefit the environment. Other the contrary, building facades are designed keeping in mind the comfort of the inner occupants completely ignoring the effect of exterior design on the public sphere. This situation suggests reconsidering changes in the building facades design benefiting the outer world and the concept of environment protection as the added feature that needs to be considered while designing building facades. If the total surface area that the facades cover in the entire city’s buildings are taken into consideration, then changes in the façade design for the comfort of the outer domain not only make outdoor areas comfortable, clean and enjoyable, but also help to eradicate the mammoth problem of rising temperatures in the modern cities.
